This app lets you collect UK car registration numbers and see the date and location on a map. The app uses a google API key to access google maps. Data entry is by image recognition which I developed myself. I used the android camera API to take an image. The image is then analysed by my algorithm, first using colour filter to isolate the rear number plate in yellow, then the individual characters are determined using a convolution alogorithm that I developed Fianlly the number is displayed to the user for approval and inclusion in the database. It is stored with gps location data obtained from the phones gps service.An alternative input is provided using speech recgonition. Google speech to text is used to turn audio from the microphone into a string. The data can be perused on google maps. of the number plate.
Blastermind
This game app is a variation on the old Mastermind Word board game of the 1980s, of which Wordle is modern app based variant. My version lets you play as often as you like. You can choose between English, French, Dutch or Scots Gaelic. You can also select 4, 5 or 6 letter words. It uses open source dictionaries for the words. It saves your stats to the local file store for the time you took to complete and your win-loose stats.
MunroStar
A database of mountains in the UK. You can filter on Munros (Scotland), Corbetts (Scotland) and Grahams (Scotland), Wainwrights (English Lake District) and Welsh mountains too. You can sort on height and distance from your current location. It uses Google Maps API and android GPS API to find the nearest hill. You can record when you climbed it, who you climbed it with and a day rating of 1 to 10. You can filter on climbed and not climbed too. The hills are also shown on Google Maps. An open source database provides the mountain data.
TiltTable
This game uses the phone's accelerometers to control a virtual ball. Hold the phone flat like a table and tilt it to control the ball through a selection of mazes collecting gems along the way. Realistic bouncing of the ball at the edges is achieved by implementing a custom 2DVector class that handles speed and direction.
TinyTennis
This two player game uses Android Bluetooth API to talk to a paired phone. The game is to answer mental arithmetic questions correctly and quickly. The quicker you answer the question, the harder your opponents question will be and vice versa. It is presented like a tennis match, with tennis style scoring.There is also TinyTennis-Solo where you can play against the computer.
ActivityMaster
This app lets you track your exercise. You can select activities as walking or cycling. The app uses android gps running as a foreground service to allow continuous monitoring of your position. It records your altitude, speed and location. This can be shown on a google maps via the google maps api (with api key). The app also uses androidplot to display speed and altitude on a graph which is updated during the activity. Each trip can be save to local memory and can be recalled at a later date for review.
Flobble
Flobble is a memory game. The game reveals the contents of a square for a short period of time. It then covers it and moves to the next square. Your job is to collect pairs, three-of-a-kinds and four-of-a-kinds. You get sequence bonuses which really mount up. There is a choice of icons, there are 16 levels to unlock with different game plays and there is a high score table.
Solitaire
This one player classic is a puzzle. Remove the pegs one by one by jumping over a neighbour into a free space. The aim is to be left with just one peg in the centre.I wrote an algorithm to solve the puzzle and this is used in the hint option.

A game where you try to form as long a chain of actors and movies as possible. The game gives you an actor at random. You have to name a film they have been in. Then name a different actor in the new film. And so on. You can't repeat an actor or film. See how long a chain you can build. Uses an open source movie database.
